3.1 GENERAL PURPOSE REGISTERS

The registers are used in the Goldschmidt division to store the intermediate iteration values for the numerator, denominator and the approximating constant. The registers are enabled by the control signal generated based on the “state” of operation. The control signals are generated by the Finite state machine which controls the loading of the various registers. Figure two shows a block diagram for the general purpose registers.
