3.6 MULTIPLICATION
One of the most common forms of multipliers is the CSAM or carry-save array multipliers. This multiplier is an analogue to multiplication in pencil and paper. Figure seven shows the block diagram of CASM. Each column in the diagram represents a partial product. The desired multiplier in the chip is to perform multiplication on numbers between [-1, 1], i.e. the binary representation is in 1.7 format.
